Lori Gaudet is a Manitoban author of dark fiction and member of the Manitoba Writers’ Guild since 1993, the Horror Writers Association, and Authors of Manitoba. In her work to give back to the writing community both on and offline, she volunteers with the MWG as the social media person and editor of the newsletter starting with the July 2019 edition, volunteered briefly in 2017 with online content for the Guild, and is currently a member of the MWG Marketing, Communication, and Membership committee since its inception late November 2019 (The first meeting was on my birthday! How is that for Karma?). Lori is also a volunteer proofreader for the Horror Writers Association newsletter and has visited schools for I Love to Read month despite her inability (and abject fear) of talking in front of groups.
Early publishing credits include more than 40 flash fiction, short stories, and book reviews published in various eZines 2008 to 2013. Lori’s first short story published in print was “Falling”, included in Second Wind Publishing’s Mystery in the Wind anthology published September 2009. Her first published novel, Where the Bodies Are, was first published by Second Wind Publishing March 2014, then again under the imprint Indigo Sea Press January 2016.
Lori currently has ten books published under two pen names, all dark fiction. Writing published under L. V. Gaudet is geared for an adult audience while her alter ego pen name, Vivian Munnoch, writes for younger audiences from middle grade to YA. Her biggest wish in life is to win the Bram Stoker award.
In addition to books, flash fiction, and short stories, Lori publishes multiple blogs and her infrequent Author of Darkness newsletter.
Dark fiction can best be described as a genre leaning that encompasses multiple genres, predominantly horror, thriller, and mystery. Lori grew up with a love of the darker side; sneaking down to the basement at night to watch the old horror B movies, devouring books by horror authors, and has had a passion for books and the idea of creating stories and worlds a person can get lost in since reading that first novel.
